Yarrabee Coal Company joins the Fight as a Gold Sponsor!

The Fight have their first international sponsor and it comes directly from our team captain Ryan Douglas' employer back in Australia, Yarrabee Coal Company a division of Yan Coal.

Yancoal Australia’s principal business activity is to mine coal and export the product of the mining to many customers in the steel and power industries in the Asian region. The company operates four coal mines located in New South wales and Queensland. Two of the mines – Yarrabee and Moolarben are open cut. The Austar Coal Mine is an underground mine and the Ashton Coal Mine operates both underground and open cut in the project area.

Yancoal Australia is actively seeking to grow production and profitability by increasing production at each of the current operations, exploring around the current mines and evaluating merger and acquisition opportunities in the coal mining industry in Australia.

Yancoal Australia also promotes the use of its Longwall Top Coal Caving underground mining technology which is operating at the Austar coal Mine to other coal mining companies in Australia. In addition the company continues to fund the development of the Ultra Clean Coal technology which has the capacity to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions when used to generate electricity.

Yarrabee Coal Mine
Location
The Yarrabee Open-Cut Coal Mine is located approximately 40 km North-East of Blackwater in Central Queensland’s Bowen Basin.
Ownership
The Yarrabee Coal Mine is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yancoal Australia Ltd since acquiring Felix Resources Pty Ltd in December 2009.
Operational Description
The Yarrabee Coal Mine is an open cut coal mine with a current capacity to produce 2.4Mtpa of saleable low volatile, high energy, pulverised coal injection (PCI) coal and thermal coal.  The coal produced at Yarrabee is exported to steelmakers, power generators and general industry in Asia, Europe and the Americas.  A coal preparation plant constructed in 2009 ensures that the PCI product meets the strict specifications required by our steel mill customers.
Expansion of the production and export capacity to 3.2Mtpa is being considered and will be possible when the proposed Wiggins Island Coal Terminal facilities at Gladstone are completed.  In the short term mine production can increase to 2.7Mtpa by utilising current allocated port capacity at Gladstone.
The mine is well positioned to supply PCI coal to a market were the supply of PCI is very limited and  centred around the Bowen Basin region in central Queensland.
Extensive drilling during the past two years has resulted in a substantial increase in resources which are required for the expanded production scenario.  Exploration on the large tenements around the mine will continue over the next few years in an effort to enhance the quality of the current resources.  Yarrabee product coal is railed to the R. G. Tanna and Barney Point Coal Terminals in Gladstone for export to customers.

We can't thank Yarrabee enough for exposing us to a new marketplace and spreading the Fight name to the Rugby League world in Australia!!
