Fight Season Preview-The 8 East FIGHT @ Rhode Island Rebellion

The Fight embark on their quest to become the inaugural USARL National Champions on Saturday night June 4th vs. the Rhode Island Rebellion.

"The 8 East sponsored Philadelphia Fight started their 2011 campaign on a bright note last Saturday by winning the Memorial Day Weekend USA Rugby League 9's Tournament Trophy by playing off for third place against the Washington DC Slayers. Through out the day the Fight grew stronger with each of it's 4 x 18min games with tremendous improvement in the final. Outstanding for the Fight was new winger to the club, Mike Timpano who scored 5 tries during the tournament, blazing fast fullback Pat Quirk scored 4, & five-eighth Rich Henson who scored 3 tries & defended well in every game. Tomahawk's Jared Frymoyer & Larry Madden were hard to handle along with Fight new-comer Kevin Wiggins. Prop forward James Coleman scored a surprising runaway 60yd try.

This Saturday the 8 East Philadelphia Fight travel to Providence, RI to take on the newly formed Rhode Island Rebellion in the first round match of the inaugural USARL Competition. The RI Rebellion will be a strong contender this year & will test the seasoned Fight players. This week, backing up from their torrid previous weekend, will have the luxury of fielding 3 of their 4 Australian import players.

The Fight will see the return of their tenacious 2009 Captain, Ryan Douglas playing at hooker. The other 3 imports are prop forward Matt Webster from Woollongong, NSW, fullback Sean Staunton & half-back Joel Weeks from Wyong, NSW. The 4 imports will rotate each week to fulfill the requirement of only 3 imports each match.

Along with the Aussie's will be USA Tomahawk representatives, winger Jared Frymoyer & second-row Larry Madden.

The 8 East Philadelphia Fight should come away from Rhode Island with a first-up win.
