Philadelphia Fight Rugby News and Press

December 1, 2008

Army Stryker Brigade Sergeants Patrick Kelly and Stephen Buxton, both standout players for the Philadelphia Fight are shipping out on their second tours of duty in Iraq.

They are in the 1st Battilion 111th Infantry Regiment(1/111th IN). Steve is in Bravo Company(Bco.) and Pat is in Charlie Company(Cco.) Their battilion is part of the 56th Stryker Brigade, the only national guard Stryker Brigade. Both are Fire team leaders in their companies. This means they have 3 soldiers under their command. This is their first deployment in leadership positions. They both deploy to Kuwait in January and will be in Iraq some time after that. Pat and Stephen were integral parts of our team this past year, and will be sorely missed in our upcoming 2009 season. They will both miss all of next season, but will return to the rugby field of battle in 2010. The entire FIGHT family are extremely proud of their dedication and commitment to carry out their duties and fulfill their need to serve their country to keep us all safe. We wish them both good health, god speed home, and thank them for their galant service of our country.
